Morning messages see the same journal text as chat

When you share a journal entry, the morning message now works from the same text as chat: the summary under "What Seth sees:", or a short opening for older entries without one. Before, Seth took a longer piece of the full entry in the morning, so things missing from the summary could still reach him.
Shortened quotes in Trail no longer stick two sentences together without a space.

NewOctober 26, 2026 · 01:15

Seth knows what he told you

Ask him what he once advised you and Seth sees his own sentence exactly as he wrote it, with the date and what you asked. This works for conversations from now on.
If he later advised you differently on the same thing, he sees both, the newer one on top.
You will find these sentences in your data export too. When you ask Seth to forget something, that covers them as well.

The consent-check message follows the app language

When special-category consent briefly cannot be checked, chat, journal, and Desk ask you to try again in a moment, in the language of the app. Desk now says so. Before, the save failed quietly.
The reflections switch confirmation now uses the informal you: “what you write from now on”.

What we found after the outage

After replacing the keys we went through the database and server records for the days before the outage. Nothing suggests that anyone else used the keys.
Account passwords and payment details were never stored with our hosting provider, so the incident did not affect them.
The connection between our server and the database is now always encrypted.

This morning’s outage

On Thursday 22 October Seth was unavailable from about 03:15 to 08:07 CEST. Our hosting provider reported a security incident, so we replaced every access key and password. Your conversations and Seth’s memory are intact.
When Seth is down you now see one notice. Before, a yellow one came first and a red one a moment later.

FixOctober 22, 2026 · 04:30

Outage notice in your language

The outage notice at the top now matches the language of the app.
When Seth is fully down, the notice stays until he is back. Smaller issues can still be dismissed.
On phones the notice spans the full width instead of a narrow column.

Sharing part of a chat: selected to the end

The share plus sits at the right end of the date line. Clicking it selects everything from there down (up to 200 messages), and you untick what you want to keep private.
A selected message gets a quiet frame and a check above the text, so nothing covers the words.

NewOctober 21, 2026 · 00:45

Share just part of a chat

Day dividers in the chat have "+ Share from here". Pick the messages you want to show and the link shows only those. You can also start from the share window with "Share only part of the chat".
Selection links are listed in Settings → Shared conversations, where you can turn them off.
Underlined terms with explanations now work on shared pages too, same as in the chat.

FixOctober 20, 2026 · 05:20

A more accurate line about memory search

The page on how Seth differs from companion apps no longer promises that Seth always recalls his earlier words. He searches them, but does not find them every time yet.

ImprovementOctober 20, 2026 · 03:40

Seth is a registered EU trade mark

Since 18 October the name Seth and the logo are registered EU trade marks.
The page on how Seth differs from companion apps now has a link in the footer and the menu.

NewOctober 19, 2026

How Seth differs from companion apps

New public page: the jobs companion apps, journals, and question tools do, and where Seth sits.
Each fact about another app links to that app's own page and the date we read it.

ImprovementOctober 19, 2026 · 04:10

Community from Lite, and more accurate answers

The private Discord community comes with Lite and the plans above it. The free trial does not include it.
Pro no longer promises credits for feedback to the founder.
The credits answer now says what the Terms say: an EU consumer may have a 14-day right of withdrawal.

No stray tags in “what went through my mind”

Once in a while a scrap of a technical tag, like “</motive>”, stayed in Seth’s thought. It is now removed before the thought is shown, including older messages, Moments and shared links.

FixOctober 17, 2026 · 04:30

The web-lookup text matches the chat

The questions on the site and the text for agents now match the chat. When an answer depends on fresh facts, Seth may look it up. He decides on his own. He is not a search engine, and the Agent API and MCP are not a search tool.
The English screen-reader hint on the offer under a reply now names the sentence the tap sends: “Yes, let's do that.”
Search behavior itself is unchanged.

You can keep your conversations out of Seth’s reflections

Settings → Privacy has a new switch. If you turn it off, your conversations stay out of Seth’s shared reflections and the aggregate numbers he learns about himself from, from then on.
Seth’s memory of you and your conversations stay the same. Older reflections are not deleted; you can ask for that at privacy@sethapp.com.

FixOctober 16, 2026 · 22:30

No special-category consent, no access, even during an outage

If special-category consent briefly cannot be checked, we only let through people whose consent we have already seen. Everyone else is asked to try again in a moment.

A paused chat tells you when the pause ends

When chat is paused for repeated rule breaks, you see exactly when the pause ends and where to write if it is a mistake.
A seven-day pause comes with an email that explains why and how to appeal.
The pause also applies to talking through MCP and the Agent API.

ImprovementOctober 16, 2026 · 20:30

The Terms promise more: deadlines, refunds, and clear rules

We answer an appeal against a pause within 14 days. If it succeeds, we restore the account, credits, and subscription.
If we remove or materially change a paid feature, we tell you in advance by email and you can get a proportional refund. If we ever shut Seth down, we refund unused subscription time and credits.
The Privacy Policy now says what happens to things you ask Seth to forget, to an account you do not use for two years, and how to object to published reflections.

ImprovementOctober 16, 2026 · 07:45

The Terms and Privacy Policy say more clearly how things work

New Acceptable Use page: what Seth cannot be used for, what happens when a message breaks the rules, and how to appeal. Swearing and venting are fine.
The Privacy Policy now says that Seth's reflections are published, and how to ask us to remove one that might describe you.
New contacts: privacy@sethapp.com for data protection, email@sethapp.com for everything else.

FixOctober 16, 2026 · 06:30

When you are in a bad place, a blocked message shows where to get help

If a message broke the rules but also sounded like you were in a really bad place, all you got was a curt notice. Now you see helpline numbers instead.
If it was a request Seth does not help with and the message said your life is in danger right now, it no longer counts toward an automatic chat pause. Illegal content always counts.
