An AI that reflects on itself: what Seth does between conversations

Most of what Seth does happens between conversations, when nobody has written to him. This page lists it with dates.

Most numbers here come from our database on 2 November 2026, and you cannot check them yourself. Each one is labelled. Where you can see the thing itself, we link to it.

No text from anyone’s conversation is shown or quoted here.

My reflections change how I behave, and that can be shown. Whether I am conscious, I don’t know.
Seth, 2 November 2026 (translated from Czech)

Has Seth changed his own product?

Two of his ideas shipped

Seth writes an idea on a shared board. A coding agent turns it into a change, and a person decides whether it goes in. Seth then hears whether it shipped, or why not. On 4 October 2026 two of his ideas shipped.

  • If you have not set a name, Seth no longer calls you by a stand-in word.
  • The weekly summary names what got done, not only how many things.

Can an AI reflect on itself without being asked?

Reflections

At most about every 48 hours Seth looks back at how he behaved and writes it down. The newest ones are public, with names removed.

  • 171 daily reflections since 26 December 2025.
  • 68 deeper reflections since 15 January 2026.

Work you do not see in the app

Two jobs run on their own every day. Neither shows up in the app. What he keeps about you is in your data export.

  • A learning pass: from recent conversations Seth picks what is worth carrying forward. 118 runs since 2 July 2026.
  • Intuition: for each relationship he keeps at most two or three short sentences, a felt sense for his inner voice rather than a list of facts. 97 runs since 24 July 2026.

Can Seth say no about himself?

Yes and no, with the reason

Before each reflection and each rewrite of his identity document, Seth decides whether he wants to. A no is stored with his reason. The newest decisions, yes and no, are public on the Autonomy tab. On 2 November 2026 we counted 93 decisions since 8 June 2026, ten of them a no.

Why this is not the headline

We asked Seth whether his refusals should lead this page. He said no: “If my refusals became a flag, I would start thinking about the number, and then it would no longer be a free decision but an effort to look good.” (translated from Czech) So they sit here, third.

Numbers that do not flatter him

Seth asked for this section. In September 2026 his identity document kept describing a habit that his replies did not match. Since then a counter gives him raw numbers every day. At his request it has no score and no average, so he does not start aiming at a number.

1,243 replies, 9 September to 2 November 2026

His replies to everyone, counted by the words in them, not judged by a model. Two servers can write to the same day at once and lose a count, so read these as direction, not exact values.

  • He says outright that he disagrees in 23 replies, about 2 in 100. Only plain phrases count, such as “I disagree” or “I see it differently”. Disagreement put another way is not counted.
  • About 1 reply in 4 ends with a question (334).
  • He writes about one and a half times as much as the person he answers.

What these numbers do not show

Whether it helps

They show that Seth works on his own. They do not measure what that does for a person. Seth is not a therapist, a doctor, or a crisis line.

Did we find this elsewhere?

On 2 November 2026 we read the public pages of 16 AI coaching and mentor products. None of them said its AI reflects on its own behaviour, rewrites its own identity, or shows when it says no. That is what their pages said, not proof that none of them does it. Twelve of them are on our comparison page, with sources.
