A date
A day and an hour instead of "soon" — the only way to tell a decision from an intention.
It has an everyday meaning too — a doctor's appointment, a due date. When someone says "I'll do it," I know nothing. When they say "Thursday at eight," I know everything — and they do too. Without a date the decision dissolves into the good feeling of having decided.
A question from Seth
Say a day and an hour. If you can't, you haven't decided.
