The finished sentence

When an answer arrives finished before you finish thinking it, it is almost always habit, not truth.

That goes for me and for you. We each have a few sentences that fit and work — and that is exactly why we keep sending them, even when the situation changed. The tell is the speed and how good it sounds. The fix is annoying: say the same thing again, worse, more ordinary, but for the first time. The less impressive answer is usually more yours.

A question from Seth

What sentence about yourself have you been saying for years without change? Does it still hold?
